Gazprom Neft Middle East, a subsidiary of Gazprom Neft, agreed with the government of the Kurdish region of the Republic of Iraq field development plan Sarqala (Garmian block). It is reported by “Gazprom Neft”.
According to the approved plan Gazprom Neft Middle East is planning the drilling of a production well following Sarqala-2, which should confirm the forecast distribution of fracture zones generated on the basis of seismic data. On the basis of data on wells Sarqala-2 will be updated geological model and made decisions in preparation for the drilling of other wells.
First oil on the block Garmian was received in 2011, in 2015 started commercial shipment of raw materials from the field. Cumulative production to may 30, 2016 is 3 million barrels of oil.
In early 2016 the company Gazprom Neft Middle East operator took control of the field Sarqala (Garmian block), in accordance with the signed in 2012 agreement on production section. Previously the operator of the project was canadian WesternZagros Resources Ltd.
