The unemployment rate in Italy unexpectedly fell in July, following gains in the previous month. About it reported in a preliminary report from the Statistical office Istat said.
According to the data, the unemployment rate fell to 11.4 percent from 11.6 percent in June. Economists had expected the index to remain stable. Recall that in the corresponding month last year, the unemployment rate was 11.7 percent.
In addition, it became known that the number of unemployed in July was 2.94 million, a decrease of 1.3 percent compared to the previous month. The unemployment rate among youth (age group 15 to 24 years) rose to 10.4 percent in July from 10.0 percent in the previous month. Meanwhile, the overall employment rate was 57.3%, slightly down compared to June (57.4 percent).
