Retail sales in the U.S. in August decreased by 0.2%



According to a report by the Commerce Department, retail sales in the U.S. in August declined 0.2% compared to the previous month.

Analysts had predicted an increase of 0.1%.

In July, retail sales rose 0.3% (revised from +0.6%).

Over the last 12 months the index rose by 3.2%.

Excluding car sales, retail sales in August rose 0.2% after rising 0.4% a month earlier (revised from +0.5%).

Analysts had forecast growth in August increased by 0.5%.
