Retail sales in the U.S. in January fell by 0.3%



According to a report by the Commerce Department, retail sales in the U.S. in January fell by 0.3% compared with the previous month.

Analysts had expected the index to increase 0.2%.

In December, retail sales remained unchanged (revised from +0.4%).

Compared to January, 2017 the index increased by 3.6%.

Excluding car sales, retail sales in January has not changed after rising 0.1 percent a month earlier (revised from +0.4%).

Analysts had forecast growth in January increased by 0.5%.
