Retail sales in the U.S. in September rose by 1.6%



According to a report by the Commerce Department, retail sales in the U.S. in September rose 1.6 percent compared to the previous month.

Analysts had predicted an increase of 1.7%.

In August, retail sales reduced by 0.1% (revised (-0.2%).

Over the last 12 months the index rose by 4.4%.

Excluding car sales, retail sales in September grew by 1.0% after rising 0.5% the month before (revised from +0.2%).

Analysts had forecast September growth figure of 0.9%.
