Ministry of Russia and the State Committee of China on development and reform agreed to sign the agreement on the development of the Big Ussuri island near Khabarovsk. It is reported by RIA “Novosti” with reference to the RF Ministry of Far East development.
“Ministry of Russia and the State Committee of China on development and reform agreed to sign the agreement on the development of the Big Ussuri island. Meeting of Vice-Premier – presidential envoy to FEFD Yuri Trutnev, Deputy Premier of the State Council of China Wang Yang, was held on 29 June in Beijing. The agreement provides for a joint decision of questions of development of the island”, — is spoken in the message.
As explained at the end of the negotiations, the Minister for Far East development Alexander Galushka, Russia and China should jointly develop a plan for the development of the island together to solve the problem of creating the necessary infrastructure, including structures for flood protection, to jointly develop tourism on the island. The Chinese side is ready to render assistance in the development of the island as this will allow you to turn the island “in the pilot area of bilateral cooperation.”
The Agency reminds that part of the Bolshoi Ussuriysky island on the Amur river near Khabarovsk in 2008 was transferred to China under the agreement between the leaders of the two countries. Both parties plan to make the area the “Island of Friendship” and develop tourism.
