Sales of new homes in the U.S. in may increased by 2.9% (extended message)



According to a report by the Commerce Department, sales of new single-family homes in the U.S. in may increased by 2.9% compared to the previous month and amounted to 610 thousand houses in annual basis.

In April, sales of new homes amounted to 593 thousand y / y (revised from 569 thousand).

Analysts predicted that in may the number of sales of new homes will be 599 thousand in annual terms.

Compared to may of 2016, new home sales increased by 8.9%.

Overall, last month it sold 58 thousand new homes to 57 million in April and 61 thousand in March. The greatest demand of buyers used the homes cost from 300 thousand to 399.9 thousand dollars (sold 16 thousand houses), from 200 thousand to 299.9 thousand dollars (sold 14 thousand houses) and from 400 thousand to 499.9 million (sold 9 thousand houses).

The median price of sold homes (median price) amounted to 345.8 thousand against $ 310.2 million in April and 320.1 thousand in March.

The average price of sold homes (average price) amounted to 406.4 thousand vs $ 367.7 million in April and 382.8 thousand in March.

Reserves held for sale of homes at the end of may amounted to 268 thousand units against 264 thousand in April and 264 thousand in March.

At the current level of prices and pace of sales of existing inventories of new single-family homes can be implemented for 5.3 vs 5.3 months in April and 4.9 in March.
