Sales of new homes in the U.S. in September increased by 18.9% (extended message)



According to a report by the Commerce Department, sales of new single-family homes in the U.S. in September increased by 18.9% compared to the previous month and amounted to 667 thousand houses in annual basis.

In August, sales of new homes amounted to 561 thousand y / y (revised from 560 thousand).

Analysts predicted that in September the number of new home sales will be 555 thousand in annual terms.

Compared to September 2016 new home sales increased by 17.0%.

Overall, in the past month, has sold 52 thousand new homes, compared to 45 thousand in August and 50 thousand in July. The greatest demand of buyers used a home worth 200 thousand to 299.9 thousand (sold 16 thousand houses), from 300 thousand to 399.9 thousand dollars (sale of 13 thousand houses) and from 500 thousand to 749 million (sold 7 thousand houses).

The median price of sold homes (median price) amounted to 319.7 thousand against $ 303.8 million in August and 323.6 thousand in July.

The average price of sold homes (average price) amounted to 385.2 thousand dollars against 364.3 thousand in August and 374.7 thousand in July.

Reserves held for sale of homes at the end of August amounted to 279 thousand units versus 279 million in August and 274 thousand in July.

At the current level of prices and pace of sales of existing inventories of new single-family homes can be implemented for 5.0 vs 6.0 months in August and 5.6 in July.
