The consumer price index in the UK in August increased by 2.9% in annual terms



The consumer price index (CPI) in the UK in August increased by 2.9% in annual terms, after rising 2.6% the previous month.

Analysts had forecast growth rate by 2.8%.

Basic consumer price index in the UK that excludes food and energy prices (core CPI) in August rose by 2.7% in annual terms, after rising 2.4% in July.

Analysts had forecast growth rate by 2.5%.
