The consumer price index in the UK in January grew by 3.0% in annual terms



The consumer price index (CPI) in the UK in January grew by 3.0% in annual terms, after rising at the same pace a month earlier.

Analysts had forecast growth in CPI of 2.9%.

Basic index of consumer prices in the UK, excluding prices for food and energy (core CPI) in January rose by 2.7% in annual terms, after rising 2.5% in December.

Analysts had forecast growth in the January core CPI at 2.6%.
