The surplus on the current account of the balance of payments of the Russian Federation in January-August rose to $20.5 billion




In January-August of 2017, the surplus in the current account of the balance of payments, according to preliminary estimates of the Bank of Russia amounted to $20.5 billion, an increase of one and a half times compared with the indicator of January-August 2016.

“The determining factor was the increase in the trade surplus at $13.8 billion, which is more than 2 times exceeded the capacity deficit in other items of the current account. A favourable external economic situation, the growth in exports of goods was more important than commodity import”, – stated in the materials of the CBR.
